Home/Where to stay/Karsiyang/3-star hotels
3-star hotels in Karsiyang
A shortlist of 3-star hotels in Karsiyang, from town-centre stays to tea-estate retreats in the hills. It is for travellers weighing convenience, quiet and facilities before booking a slower-paced alternative to Darjeeling.
Staying in Karsiyang
Karsiyang was a sanatorium town during the British Raj and keeps schools, churches and a heritage railway station from that period; the name comes from the Lepcha word for 'land of white orchids'. Visitors come for the tea estates, the railway line, the markets and the trekking routes in the surrounding hills, and for the slower pace and smaller crowds than nearby Darjeeling.
The listed hotels sit in several parts of town and its surroundings. Dreamhome Stay, Peky's, Bethesda Dheem Homestay and The River View Homestay are within 1.5 km of the centre, convenient for shops, restaurants and transport. Cochrane Place, Mount Bashera Boutique Hotel and Williams Homestay sit a little further out in residential areas such as Pankha Bari Road, Upper Naya Busty and St Marys Hill. Goomtee Tea Garden Retreat, Sourenee Tea Estate & Boutique Resort and Cheeyabari Oaks Homestay lie among the tea estates, 3.4 km to 10 km away, suited to guests who want plantations and quiet over easy access. Couples and short-break visitors tend to favour the central stays, while families and longer stays do well with the estate properties.
