New Jalpaiguri is the closest major railhead, with connections to New Delhi, Kolkata and other cities, and from there shared jeeps, taxis and buses cover the winding road, taking roughly three hours. The Darjeeling Himalayan Railway, a UNESCO-listed narrow-gauge line, also runs from New Jalpaiguri to Darjeeling.
